Chitrangada Raje belongs to the Scindia family of Gwalior & is married into the erstwhile Royal House of Jammu & Kashmir. She finished her schooling at Welham Girls’ High School, Dehradun & later went to study English Literature at Jesus & Mary College.She helped her husband in setting up in Taragarh Palace Hotel, a heritage resort in Himachal Pradesh. And continue to be deeply involved with this family run boutique hotel. In Jammu & Kashmir she is actively engaged in restoring heritage properties some of which are landmarks of the state, including ancient Temples and the Family Estate. Chitrangada Raje is also the President of ‘The Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children’ a NGO that runs a unique school providing for specially abled and challenged students. Her organization has been committed to the care of persons from the socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society. Chitrangada’s passion and hobbies are art, painting and horse riding. In 2013 Roli books published the book Dining with the Maharajas –A thousand Years of Culinary Tradition. Chitrangada Raje presented the chapter on the presentation, cuisines & recipes from the house of Jammu & Kashmir.
